WHAT IS HASHING?
Welcome to the Birmingham Hash
House Harriers (BH3) website
Hashing is a world wide phenomenon, mainly led by
Brits. The Birmingham hash is a new hash group and is one of many hashes
throughout the UK.
What is this all about?
The Hash House Harriers is called by some the drinking club with a
running problem. This is not far from the truth! Once or twice a month
on a Saturday a group of us get together to follow a trail laid out the
day before by a fellow hasher known as a hare. The trail starts at a pub
and finishes back at the same pub.
The trails are usually set in the countryside / more picturesque parts
of the Greater Birmingham area. The run / jog is not competitive; the
aim is for everyone to end up back at the pub together and have sociable
fun.
Three white blobs in a row mean the trail goes in
this direction; a call of ‘On! On!’ indicates the trail has been found.
A circle indicates a check; these are located at junctions and mean that
all of the directions should be checked out until three blobs of flour
are found. A call of ‘On You!’ means ‘does the trail go this way?’
For further information on upcoming runs and locations please see the
Receding Hareline (on
the main site), or the News page.
