Ideal for ANY standard of Runner or Walkers

Come & join the fun with the BH3 Halloween Charity Hash.
Saturday 30th October 2010

BH3 are doing this Hash to help Acorns Children's Hospice raise much needed funds to provide extra support for life limited children & their families in & around the Birmingham & Worcester area.

Please help us, to help them
!

As well as the normal Hash registration fee (£2) which will be donated to Acorns, could you also bring with you at least 1 (lots more if you want!) toy or game that is in a good, clean workable condition.
All other household (including electrical) items gratefully accepted as well.

To help with the festive fun (& publicity) could you also come in Fancy Dress, it doesn't need to be too elaborate; however it does need to be of a Halloween Theme (e.g. Dracula, Ghost, Devil, Zombie, Witch etc).
There will be a prize for the person (adult & child) judged to have the best Fancy Dress.

Saturday 30th October, 12 noon start

The Colebrook Inn,
Shirley
B90 2LL

If you cannot make the Hash you can still donate your toys (& other things!) to Acorns - just take them into your nearest Acorns Charity Shop or pass to a fellow Hasher.
Label your bags with BH3 so they know it's a Birmingham Hash House Harriers donation.

Anything you collect before the Shenstone Hash (18th September) bring it along & give it to Lost Boy so that he can start to gather the stuff.

PUBLICITY MATERIALS

Let's really advertise this event - last time we did a Charity Hash for Acorns we raised over £600 - let's see if we can make it over £1,000 this time!

Why not send these to all of your fiends?!

We intend to hold a raffle after the event so if you can try to 'scrounge' some prizes (can include food, chocolates & drink) from friends, relatives, colleagues, pubs, shops, businesses or anywhere else.

We have got quite a while before the events so start collecting & asking for toys, clothing, bric a brac, (no food, chocolate or drink or electrical items) we can then add these to the collection to put in the Acorns shops. They are desperate for all sorts of things as a while ago some dastardly devious thieves nicked a load of charity bags that were intended for Acorns.

A small section of the Toys & Books already collected form fiends relatives & neighbours. Do YOUR bit to help the children of Acorns.

Bring whatever you have to the next hash (Shenstone) or bring it to the Halloween Hash.

Last time we raised over £600 - let's see if this year we can raise OVER £1,000!

Finally - have a listen to the Vampire Down Down Song:

Vampire Hash Song

He’s a Hasher & a vampire too
He likes running & drinking blood from you

He’s got fangs, a cloak & funny hair, but when he’s out running everyone will be SCARED!

Get it Down, down, down, down  ………..

SEE YOU ON THE 30TH OCTOBER!

Come & Join us on Saturday 14th March 2009

This will be an Educational & Entertaining Hash!

Click Here for No Puff's Hint's & Tips Guide (18+)

So bring the kids (& adults) as they might learn something useful that they can use at school.

Starts at 12 noon prompt from the Car Park of The Navigation Inn at Lapworth (to the East of Lapworth, closer to Kingswood & Rowington on the Old Warwick Road).

As well as the 'normal' Hash it will be a momentous day for the BH3 as we will be holding auditions for a Standby BH3 Hash Horn.

As many of you are aware our Official Hash Horn (No Puff) is 'fighting' (probably hashing) for Queen & Country in Iraq.

So, in order to keep us all on the correct trail, Blagger has done his work again & 'acquired' a new horn!
All we need now is someone to blow it!

During & after the Hash we will be holding auditions for potential hornists (made up word).

Blagger Gets The Horn
To see Blagger in full colour you need to be at Lapworth!

N.B.   Rag & Bone men (& women) cannot apply as they have been known to lead us astray in the past!

WANT TO BLOW THE HORN?

Click Here for No Puff's Hint's & Tips Guide

Now is your chance to show the world (at least people around Lapworth) how good your musical talents are.

Here's a POSTER to put up at work or in the gym.

The Birmingham Hash House Harriers (BH3) come to Shirley & Majors Green again.

OOPS - you're too late!

see what you missed:

Thank you to all who took part & donated....

You raised £97 on the day & donated Toys etc to the value of £450 - £500 - BRILLIANT!

Thanks you from Acorns (audio)

Saturday 15th November -12 noon
This is a Special BH3 Christmas Charity Hash.

We are holding it to help raise much needed funds for , they provide support for life limited children & their families in & around the Birmingham & Worcester area.

Please help us, to help them
, to have their best Christmas ever.

This will be a No-Cost charity run!

All we ask is that rather than paying the normal £2 Hash fund, you bring with you as a donation, at least 1 Toy or game that is in a good workable condition.

Obviously, if you want to, you can bring a lot more! Why not have a look in your loft & have a clear out - make room for all of the new toys that you will buy this year.

To help with the festive fun (& publicity) could you also come in
Fancy Dress (click for a laugh!) it doesn't need to be too elaborate, however it does need to be of a Christmas Theme.

There will be a prize for the person with the best fancy dress.

We want to make this a high publicity Hash to give more exposure to Acorns (& also BH3), so get as many of your friends, relatives & colleagues to come along as well.

Don't be shy - let everyone you know what you are doing, why not ask for donations - remember you are not asking for money! You are just helping people, to help more people, so everyone wins in the end.

If you want a poster to put up at work please e-mail Geoff ASAP.

The hash will be a vey flat route & relatively shiggy free, so ideal for virgin hashers - literally a stroll in the park, compared to the last Shirley Hash!

It's going to be another amazing hash - all the usual excitement & fun with a seasonal surprise (or 2)!

Donate without Hashing!

If you cannot make the Hash you can still donate your toys (& other things!) to Acorns, just take them into your nearest Acorns Charity Shop (click here to find yours). Label your bags with BH3 so they know it's a Birmingham Hash House Harriers donation.

POSTER - print off a poster to put up at work!

Details for the day (15th November)

  • Meet on the Drawbridge Car Park (see below) for 11.50 am, give your name & e-mail address (we don't want to lose you) to the BH3 RA , donate your toy (or toys - there's no limit)!

  •  Chat to other hashers

  • Hash Circle - we all gather around to hear & see the markings being explained

  • Run/walk the Hash & enjoy the fun of the chase

  • Get back to the pub - order your food & drink, relax & chat (or just watch the boats go by)

  • Down Downs - 'prize giving' & traditional songs & drinks & more fun

  • Make your way home or stay for more socialising

We recommend having a towel & a change of clothes (just in case!), especially footwear.
No matter how wet it is it will still be fun!

    Happy Hashing

Follow Up Interview - Les & Tweeny

Brief Description

The Hash House Harriers is the largest non-competitive running club in the world. Virtually all major cities throughout the world, on every continent have got a Hash club.

Hashing’, as it is known, involves running from a pub, following a trail of flour around a circular course for 5 miles or so and then returning to the pub for some refreshment & prizes!.
click pictures to enlarge

The trail followed is in the style of a paper chase, which the ‘hares’ set the day before. The ‘hounds’ follow the trail, which involves working as a team with the fitter runners checking out false routes while the slower ones catch up.

There are regular regroups, to pause for breath, enjoy the view or listen to some historical information about the area.

Hash events are always sociable, and suit virtually all levels of fitness as the flour trail enables everyone to run or walk at a speed they feel comfortable with.

Usually there is a small registration fee (about £2) that is used to purchase the 'prizes' (down downs) that are handed out at the pub when all competitors are back & have got themselves fed & watered. All first timers will get a 'prize', as well as all cheats & hares.
