As well as the normal Hash registration fee - £2 (£3 if not in fancy Dress!)
which will be donated to Acorns,
could you also bring with you at least 1 (lots more if you want!) toy or game
that is in a good, clean workable condition.
All other household (including electrical) items & clothing
(from rags to designer!) will be gratefully accepted as well.
To
help with the festive fun (& publicity) could you also come in
Fancy Dress,
it doesn't need to be too elaborate; however it does need to be of a
Halloween Theme
(e.g. Dracula, Ghost, Devil, Zombie, Witch etc).
There will be a prize for the person (adult & child) judged to have
the best Fancy Dress.
Saturday 30th October, 12 noon start
The Colebrook Inn,
Shirley
B90 2LL
If you cannot make the Hash you can still donate your toys (& other
things!) to Acorns - just take them into your nearest Acorns
Charity Shop
or pass to a fellow Hasher. Label your bags with BH3 so they know it's a Birmingham Hash
House Harriers donation.
If you have
anything you'd like collecting before the event just give Lost Boy a
ring & he can sort it for you
(see the donations page).
Let's
really advertise this event - last time we did a Charity Hash
for
Acorns we raised over £600 - let's see if we can make it
over £1,000 this time!
If you have contacts at any Newspapers, TV Stations or Radio
Stations - Spread the word!
The more people who turn up will mean more hashers, which will mean
more potential Hares & more money for Acorns.

The Hash House Harriers is the
largest non-competitive running club in the world. Virtually all major cities
throughout the world, on every continent have got a Hash club.
‘Hashing’, as it is known, involves running from a pub, following a
trail of flour around a circular course for 5 miles or so and then returning to
the pub for some refreshment & prizes!.
The
trail followed is in the style of a paper chase, which the ‘hares’ set
the day before. The ‘hounds’ follow the trail, which involves working as
a team with the fitter runners checking out false routes while the slower ones
catch up.
There are regular regroups, to pause for breath, enjoy the view or listen to
some historical information about the area.
Hash events are always sociable, and suit virtually all levels of fitness
as the flour trail enables everyone to run or walk at a speed they feel
comfortable with.
Usually there is a small registration fee (about £2) that is used to purchase
the 'prizes' (down downs) that are handed out at the pub when all competitors
are back & have got themselves fed & watered. All first timers will get a
'prize', as well as all cheats & hares.
The Hash starts from
The Colebrook Inn in Shirley (Map)at 12 noon on Saturday OCTOBER 30th, as soon as all runners are present & Hash signs
have been displayed & understood!
Due to the often
congested car park at the Railway Station we recommend that everyone meets at
the pub (see below),
a hare will be at the Station at 11.58 to round up any straggler hounds & mush
them down to the start.
The
pub is a 5 minute walk out of the station, turn left & past the
shops (Haslucks Green Road) from
Shirley Railway Station (see times
below).
TRAIN. (Sorry - Steam Trains only run on Sundays)
